Retail Assistant

The Royal Hospital Chelsea is looking for a friendly and proactive Retail Assistant to work in the Soane Stableyard Shop.
About the Role:
You will be part of a small, friendly team working alongside Chelsea Pensioners and volunteers to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the shop, ensuring high standards of customer service, stock management, and visual merchandising. You’ll also provide occasional cover for the Post Office, for which full training will be provided.
This is a part-time role (32 hours per week), with flexibility to increase to full-time to cover holidays and sickness. Weekend and occasional evening work is required, with time off in lieu.
Key Responsibilities:
Retail Duties:
- Deliver outstanding customer service and maintain a welcoming shop environment.
- Manage point-of-sale processes and stay informed about product ranges.
- Support stock control, deliveries, and visual merchandising.
- Help coordinate volunteer rotas and assist with online sales.
- Participate in pop-up shops during events like the Chelsea Flower Show.
Post Office Duties:
- Provide cover for the Post Office Supervisor.
- Operate the Horizon system and advise customers on Post Office services.
- Follow all Post Office protocols and procedures.
